Dev Anand had bought this Bandra property in 1952 and opened a recording studio which became his second home.

Just three days ago, a flat was sold in Anand for Rs 1.02 lakh per square feet.

According to documents accessed by SquareFeatIndia on January 14, 2021, a flat on the 9th floor which also is the 14th habitable floor in Anand Building was sold.

The sellers include partners of Sunnyside Developers and Suniel Anand son of late Dev Anand. The buyers are Sabharwals a business family residing in Bandra itself.

The total consideration for the apartment is Rs 28.50 crore, while the carpet area of the apartment is 2786 square feet.

When calculated the per square feet rate comes to Rs 1.02 lakh, which is a record in Bandra and the western suburbs.

Along with the apartment the new owners will have access to four car parks in the podium level 2 of the building.

Somewhere in 2009, Dev Anand got into an agreement to redevelop the premises that he owned and where stood the studio.

Dev Anand retained a few flats and the studio in the building, that were to be handed over to him post redevelopment by the developer.

Dev Anand died on December 3, 2011, while the project was still ongoing and after him the rights of this particular property came in the hands of his son Suniel Anand.

According to Yashika Rohiira of Karma Realtors, Anand Building at Zig Zag road in Bandra has been always a premium property.

“This property attracts Rs 1 lakh per square feet rate and because of the name Dev Anand being associated it anyway attracts a premium.”

A stamp duty of Rs 85.50 lakh was paid for the registration of the deal.
