The government has announced the dedication of five new solar parks in Maharashtra, marking a significant step toward advancing renewable energy and supporting farmers. With a total capacity of 19 megawatts (MW), these solar parks aim to provide sustainable energy solutions while creating additional income opportunities for local farmers.

The parks are strategically located across different districts in Maharashtra, including:

  1. Dhondalgaon, Cha. Sambhaji Nagar – 3 MW
  2. Bamni Bk., Nanded – 5 MW
  3. Kondgiri, Kolhapur – 3 MW
  4. Jalalabad, Akola – 3 MW
  5. Palshi Bk., Buldhana – 5 MW

Each solar park is designed to harness solar energy efficiently, contributing to the state’s goal of increasing the share of renewable energy in its overall energy mix. The initiative will not only provide daytime electricity but also allow farmers to lease their land for solar projects, generating an additional source of income.

This project aligns with the government’s broader strategy to promote sustainable development and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. By investing in renewable energy infrastructure, the government aims to enhance energy security and mitigate environmental impact.

As part of the KUSUM-C scheme, these solar parks are expected to bolster rural economies by creating jobs and improving energy access. This initiative is a step forward in realizing the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and addressing the energy needs of the agricultural sector.

Local authorities have expressed optimism about the potential benefits these solar parks will bring to communities, particularly in improving the livelihoods of farmers and supporting the overall growth of the agricultural sector in Maharashtra.
