The Stamps and Registration Department of Maharashtra has introduced a citizen-friendly digital platform called e-Stepin, aimed at streamlining the property registration process across the state. With this web application, citizens can now book a registration slot online, eliminating the need to wait in long queues at Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs).

What is e-Stepin?

e-Stepin is an online web application developed by the Department to help citizens obtain a token for registering documents. The process begins after the citizen enters details through the Public Data Entry (PDE) portal. The tool ensures that registration slots are only booked if available, making the process efficient and transparent.

Key Features of e-Stepin:

  1. District Selection – Choose the district where registration is to be done.
  2. Shift Selection – General shift is selected by default.
  3. Date of Registration – Pick a convenient registration date.
  4. SRO Office Choice – Citizens can select their preferred Sub-Registrar Office.
  5. Slot Availability Check – The system shows only available time slots.
  6. One-Time Rebooking – Citizens are allowed to rebook once if needed.

To complete the process, the citizen must enter the Public Data Entry Token Number and upon successful booking, print a receipt which must be presented at the SRO office on the day of registration.

Why it Matters

The launch of e-Stepin is a major leap in reducing manual intervention and enhancing convenience in property-related transactions. With citizens now able to plan their document registrations in advance, the system promises to bring greater transparency and order to a process often marred by delays.

For citizens registering sale deeds, gift deeds, or lease agreements, e-Stepin is now the go-to portal for booking time slots and ensuring a smooth experience at the registrar’s office.
