The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is collaborating with Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to enhance healthcare access for over 14.43 crore ESI beneficiaries and their families. This convergence aims to provide comprehensive medical care by integrating ESIC’s existing health services with the extensive network of AB-PMJAY empanelled hospitals across India.
Under the guidance of Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the collaboration ensures that ESI beneficiaries can access secondary and tertiary healthcare at over 30,000 AB-PMJAY-empanelled hospitals, without any financial caps on treatment costs. This will expand healthcare coverage to include charitable hospitals and further strengthen the existing medical infrastructure under the ESI scheme.
Currently, the ESI scheme operates through 165 hospitals, 1590 dispensaries, and over 2900 empanelled private hospitals. The collaboration will complement these services, allowing ESI beneficiaries to avail treatments across a wider network.
As of now, the ESI scheme has been implemented in 687 districts, up from 393 in 2014, with plans to expand into additional districts through this partnership. This integration aligns with the government’s vision of improving social security and fostering a healthier, more productive workforce, contributing to a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
This collaboration between ESIC and AB-PMJAY is set to strengthen India’s healthcare ecosystem, promoting health equity and ensuring affordable, accessible medical care for workers and their families nationwide.
