MHADA has declared a total of 21 building comprising of 923 residents and non residents as most dangerous. These are cessed buildings.

A regular pre-monsoon survey of old and dilapidated cessed buildings on Mumbai City Island under the jurisdiction of Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board has been completed and this year 21 buildings have been found to be extremely dangerous. These 21 buildings include 14 buildings which were declared as high risk last year.

The list of 21 most dangerous buildings announced this year is as follows:

1) Building No. 144, MG Road, A-1163 (from last year’s list)

2) Building No. 4-4A, Navroji Hill Road No. 1, lattice chamber

3) Building No. 57-59, Zakaria Masjid Street

4) Building No. 101-111, Bara Building Road (from last year’s list)

5) Building No. 74 Nizam Street (from last year’s list)

6) Building No. 166D, Mumbadevi Road (from last year’s list)

7) Building No. 2-4A, 2nd Bhoiwada Lane (from last year’s list)

8) Building No. 42, Masjid Street (from last year’s list)

9) Building No. 14, Bhandari Street (from last year’s list)

10) Building No. 64-64A, Bhandari Street (from last year’s list)

11) Building No. 1-3-5, Sant Sena Maharaj Marg (from last year’s list)

12) Building No. 2-4, Sorabji Santuk Lane (from last year’s list)

13) Building No. 387-391, Badam Wadi, V.P. Road (from last year’s list)

14) Building No. 391D, Badam Wadi VP. Road (from last year’s list)

17) Chapra Building 23-33-33A, Rambhau Bhogle Marg

18) Building No. 104-106, Meghji Building, A, B and C Wing, Shivdas Chapasi Marg (from last year’s list)

There are 674 residents and 266 non-residents in these 21 high risk buildings with a total of 923 residents / tenants. As per the action taken by Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board, 190 resident tenants / residents have made alternative arrangements for their own shelter.

So far, 69 residents have been relocated to transit camps. Also, as repair work is in progress in 5 buildings, eviction notices have not been issued to 223 tenants / residents of these buildings. Also 189 resident tenants / residents will have to be arranged in the transit camp. Action is being taken by the board to make alternative arrangements for them in the transit camps.

The Board is appealing to the tenants / occupants of high risk buildings to assist the Board officials and staff in evacuating the buildings as required and to follow the instructions given by the Board officials for safety in order to avoid loss of life and property in the event of an accident.

Also, since the control room of the board is working day and night, in case of any danger signs and accidents in the building, the control room should be informed, the appeal is being made by the board.
