As 2025 draws to a close, Indian architecture stands at a pivotal juncture. From large-scale public institutions and national landmarks to education campuses, technology districts, hospitality projects and public landscapes, the coming year will see several transformative developments move into decisive phases. A common thread across many of these landmark projects is the role of CP Kukreja Architects (CPKA), whose work continues to influence how institutions, cities and public spaces are envisioned in contemporary India.

Spanning Delhi, Goa, Gurugram, Thiruvananthapuram, Dehradun and Lucknow, these seven projects reflect a broader shift toward architecture that balances functionality, sustainability, cultural context and future readiness. Together, they offer a glimpse into how India’s built environment will evolve in 2026.

1. Thal Sena Bhawan, New Delhi

The proposed Indian Army Headquarters in Delhi Cantonment is among the most significant institutional projects currently in development. Envisioned as a symbol of unity, discipline and strength, the design draws inspiration from the Army’s insignia—abstracting the crossed swords and national emblem into a strong geometric form.

Planned with a focus on security, connectivity and operational efficiency, the headquarters integrates landscaped courtyards within its footprint while preserving hundreds of existing trees on site. Internal circulation is carefully structured to minimise travel distances between departments, drawing lessons from global military headquarters such as the Pentagon. In 2026, the project will advance into deeper design coordination and detailing, marking a critical step toward the creation of a new national landmark.

2. International Convention and Expo Centre for ONGC, Goa

The ONGC Convention and Expo Centre in Goa is one of the country’s largest institutional campuses currently under development. Conceived as a multi-functional destination for conventions, exhibitions, training and public events, the campus comprises a high-capacity Convention Centre, a large-span Exhibition Hall and a dedicated Management Training Facility.

The Convention Centre features tiered seating, retractable stages, VIP and VVIP zones, and expansive pre-function spaces, with circulation carefully segregated for public and high-security users. The Exhibition Hall spans nearly 120 metres, offering flexibility for large-format events, while the training facility provides classrooms and collaborative spaces organised around efficient circulation and outdoor linkages. Rooted in Goa’s coastal palette and textures, the project will see major construction activity in 2026, positioning it as a key national venue for knowledge exchange.

3. Queen Elizabeth School, Gurugram

The Queen Elizabeth School in Gurugram reinterprets Elizabethan architectural traditions for a contemporary educational setting. Drawing from its historic lineage dating back to the 16th century, the campus features red brick façades, gables, stone detailing and articulated rooflines that echo English Renaissance architecture.

Balancing this heritage expression is a sculptural, modern auditorium inspired by the form of a crown, serving as a visual anchor for the campus. The masterplan integrates academic, residential and sports zones through landscaped courtyards and pedestrian pathways. With façade development and visualisation completed, the project is expected to reach major construction milestones through 2026.

4. Technocity and Technopark Phase IV, Thiruvananthapuram

Technocity, the fourth phase of Kerala’s Technopark, is poised to become one of India’s most forward-looking technology districts. Spread across nearly 390 acres, the masterplan envisions a comprehensive IT ecosystem structured around three districts—Central, Eco and IT Park.

The Eco District preserves natural water bodies and forests, integrating them into daily workplace life, while pedestrian-first mobility, shaded streets and elevated nature walks shape movement across the campus. Sustainability underpins the planning strategy, from stormwater management to energy efficiency. Within this framework, the Technopark IT building will act as a major anchor. Both projects are expected to move into advanced detailing and development stages in 2026.

5. American Embassy School, New Delhi

The American Embassy School (AES) in Chanakyapuri is undergoing a phased campus transformation aimed at creating a future-ready learning environment. The redevelopment includes new wellness facilities, a high school annex, renovations to existing academic blocks, infrastructure upgrades and the addition of support facilities.

A defining aspect of the project is its sensitive phasing strategy, ensuring uninterrupted academic activity throughout construction. Circulation, entry points and service access are carefully recalibrated at each stage. As implementation progresses in 2026, the revamped campus is expected to set new benchmarks for international school design in India.

6. Rashtrapati Udyan, Dehradun

The redevelopment of Rashtrapati Udyan is among the most ambitious public landscape projects in Uttarakhand. Located against the Himalayan foothills, the masterplan divides the site into experience-driven zones including a Cultural Walk, Biodiversity Zone, Udyan Lake, ecological forests and recreational areas.

Facilities such as amphitheatres, meditation pavilions, maze gardens, play courts and cycling tracks are integrated with Miyawaki forests and thematic plantations. Designed to promote ecological regeneration and public engagement, the park will enter active development in 2026 and is set to become a major public space for North India.

7. Taj Hotel, Lucknow

The expansion of Taj Lucknow at Vipin Khand adds 96 luxury keys across approximately 100,000 sq. ft., extending the legacy of one of the city’s most prominent hospitality landmarks. Overlooking the Ambedkar Memorial Park and Gomti Nagar riverfront, the design draws from the hotel’s classical architectural vocabulary.

Symmetry, arched colonnades and proportioned façades define the addition, while guest rooms are oriented toward landscaped courts and green edges. Emphasising natural light, spatial clarity and understated luxury, the project reinforces Taj’s presence in Lucknow’s evolving urban fabric.

Looking Ahead

Collectively, these seven projects underscore a broader shift in Indian architecture—toward designs that are institutionally robust, environmentally sensitive and culturally rooted. As they progress through 2026, they are set to shape not just skylines, but also how people work, learn, gather and engage with public spaces across the country.
