Citizens from Shivdi, Worli, Byculla, Malabar Hill and Mumbadevi assembly constituencies personally presented their cases. Issues ranged from urgent repairs of old cessed buildings, delays in issuing NOCs for redevelopment, tenant eligibility disputes, problems in transit accommodation, delays in allotment and transfer of flats, to rehabilitation units under the ongoing BDD Chawl redevelopment project.

Immediate Instructions Issued

After patiently hearing every applicant, Guardian Minister Lodha directed MHADA officials to resolve all pending matters on priority and within a fixed timeline. Several applicants received on-the-spot acknowledgements and assurances of early action.

The day-long hearing was attended by:

• Sanjeev Jaiswal (IAS), Vice President and CEO, MHADA
• Milind Shambharkar (IAS), Chief Officer, Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board
• Milind Borikar (IAS), Chief Officer, Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board
• Umesh Wagh, Joint Chief Officer, Repairs and Reconstruction Board along with deputy chief engineers, executive engineers, estate managers and other senior officers.

This direct public hearing darbar is part of the state government’s continued efforts to make housing authorities more accessible and responsive to citizens’ long-pending grievances.
