India and Germany are poised to unlock more than $7.5 billion in incremental logistics and investment growth over the next three years, driven by deeper bilateral collaboration and platforms such as LogiMAT India 2026, according to the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).

Highlighting the expanding scope of Indo-German cooperation, Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA India, said that Germany—India’s largest trading partner in the European Union—remains central to the country’s logistics, manufacturing, and technology ambitions.

“Germany is India’s largest trading partner in the European Union, and our logistics and technology partnership is entering a new era. Platforms like LogiMAT India can catalyse over 15%—around $7.5 billion—of bilateral logistics and investment growth in the next three years,” Nath said ahead of the event.

He added that India’s policy push towards digitalisation, supply chain modernisation, and express logistics, coupled with recent bilateral agreements, is accelerating collaboration across manufacturing and logistics ecosystems in both countries.

LogiMAT India 2026 to host record German participation

As India and Germany recalibrate their economic engagement, LogiMAT India 2026, the world’s largest logistics exhibition in India, will witness a record participation of 43 German companies, alongside leading global and Indian innovators.

Organised by Messe Stuttgart India, the three-day exhibition will be held from February 5–7, 2026, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The event is expected to bring together industry leaders across logistics, warehousing, automation, and supply chain technology to explore partnerships, expand into new markets, and drive investment-led growth.

VDMA, Europe’s largest industrial association, continues to play a key role as a bridge between German and Indian industries, facilitating technology transfer, innovation, and long-term industrial collaboration.

Germany’s growing role in India’s trade and investment landscape

Germany accounts for over 25% of India’s total trade with the European Union, making it a cornerstone of India’s European economic engagement.

In FY 2024–25:

India’s exports to Germany stood at USD 10.5 billion

Imports from Germany, driven by machinery, electrical equipment, and precision instruments, reached USD 19 billion

Germany ranked among India’s top 10 global trading partners and emerged as the ninth-largest foreign investor, with cumulative FDI exceeding USD 15 billion since 2000

At the broader level, the EU remained India’s largest trading partner for goods, with bilateral trade touching USD 136.53 billion in 2024–25 and accounting for nearly 17% of India’s total exports.

Bilateral agreements to strengthen logistics and express services

The momentum has been further strengthened by two landmark agreements signed recently between India and Germany during the visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. These agreements focus on:

Joint development of international express logistics products

Enhancing last-mile delivery capabilities

Accelerating digitalisation and operational efficiency

Supporting Indian MSMEs and exporters with competitive, high-quality logistics solutions

These initiatives align closely with India’s strategic push towards an EU–India Free Trade Agreement, currently in its final phase, aimed at lowering tariffs, improving regulatory transparency, and enhancing cross-border investment flows.

LogiMAT India as a catalyst for next-generation logistics

Gaurav Sood, CEO & Managing Director, Messe Stuttgart India, said the exhibition reflects the transformation underway in Indo-German logistics collaboration.

“The Indo-German partnership is entering a transformative phase, and nowhere is this more visible than at LogiMAT India 2026. With a record number of German companies participating, LogiMAT India is not just an exhibition—it is a launchpad for innovation, collaboration, and long-term growth in logistics and supply chain management.”

The third edition of LogiMAT India aims to reshape India’s logistics landscape through innovations in:

Warehouse automation

Smart delivery systems

Multimodal logistics

ESG-led supply chains

AI-driven and data-enabled logistics solutions

The event underscores India’s emergence as a scalable manufacturing and innovation base, while reaffirming Germany’s leadership in advanced logistics and engineering excellence.
