<p>In a major boost to affordable housing in Maharashtra, the <strong>Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA)</strong> has set an ambitious target to construct <strong>13,012 housing units</strong> across the state in the financial year 2026–27.</p>



<p>The authority has also received approval for a <strong>₹17,430.73 crore budget</strong>, marking a significant increase from the revised ₹12,399.22 crore budget for FY26.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Strong Push for Affordable Housing Across Maharashtra</strong></h3>



<p>The new housing supply will be developed through MHADA’s regional boards in:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Mumbai</li>



<li>Pune</li>



<li>Konkan Region</li>



<li>Nashik</li>



<li>Amravati</li>



<li>Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar</li>



<li>Nagpur</li>
</ul>



<p>Out of the total budget, <strong>₹10,585.12 crore has been allocated specifically for construction costs</strong>, highlighting the government’s focus on increasing housing supply across income segments.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Region-Wise Housing Targets</strong></h3>



<p>MHADA’s housing plan is spread across multiple regions, catering to various income groups:</p>

<li><strong>Mumbai Board:</strong> 2,538 housing units with a construction allocation of ₹6,747.42 crore</li>



<li><strong>Konkan Board:</strong> 5,112 units with ₹1,497.64 crore allocation</li>



<li><strong>Pune Board:</strong> 665 units with ₹664 crore allocation</li>



<li><strong>Nagpur Board:</strong> 2,008 units with ₹1,206.19 crore allocation</li>



<li><strong>Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Board:</strong> 1,483 units with ₹258.32 crore allocation</li>



<li><strong>Nashik Board:</strong> 237 units with ₹151.57 crore allocation</li>



<li><strong>Amravati Board:</strong> 969 units with ₹59.98 crore allocation</li>

<p>Among all regions, the <strong>Konkan and Mumbai regions together account for a significant share</strong> of the total planned housing supply.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Additional Budget for Urban Infrastructure and Repairs</strong></h3>



<p>Apart from new housing construction, MHADA has also earmarked funds for urban improvement and maintenance:</p>

<li><strong>₹2,711.95 crore</strong> allocated for works under the Mumbai Slum Improvement Board through government and MLA funds</li>



<li><strong>₹661.73 crore</strong> allocated for repair and reconstruction of cessed buildings, transit accommodations, and maintenance of redeveloped structures under the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board</li>
</ul>
