MHADA the apex housing body in the state has been assigned the task to construct dedicated COVID care centres. These centres will come up in Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali, and Mira-Bhayander.

The number of patients in the city of Mumbai, adjoining Thane and in many parts of the state of Maharashtra is on a rise.

While Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) recently handed over the state government a facility that it built in Bandra Kurla Complex to take care of COVID patients.

Now MHADA is scouting for sites where it can build COVID care centres.

MHADA has been assigned the task by the state government to come up with dedicated COVID care centres.

The centres will be brought up in Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali and Mira-Bhayander.

On Wednesday, senior MHADA officials visited these sites in Thane and other areas.

A senior official confirming the news said, “We are currently looking for sites where the dedicated COVID care centres can be built. On Wednesday we visited a few sites to find out locations where the care centres can come up.”

These centres are being built to take care of asymptomatic patients. They will have all the facilities that are required to take care of patients.

These dedicated COVID care centres will have beds and even beds with oxygen supply, these care centres won’t have ventilator facility.

On the lines of MMRDA’s BKC centre these centres will be built by MHADA for patients in the extended suburbs, who reside in Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Kalyan and Dombivali.

MMRDA has constructed a 1,023-bed facility for patients at the Bandra Kurla Complex grounds.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is constructing a facility with 800 beds includes 200 oxygenated beds at the Dahisar check naka and 250-bed facilities at Kanderpada, near Borivili.
