BMC is looking for a minimum 20 acre land parcel in Mumbai’s suburb to construct a 5,000 bed hospital. On Thursday it came out with a notice Inviting Expression of Interest (EOI) asking developers and land owners to com forward.

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is looking for a 20 acre plots in Mumbai’s suburban area.

This land parcel is for constructing a 5,000 bed hospital that will cater during pandemic situation to a large number of patients.

A notice Inviting Expression of Interest (EOI) was issued by the land acquisition department of BMC on Thursday, inviting land owners and developers.

Considering the large scale requirement of beds, during Corona pandemic, BMC made arrangements for 22,756 beds. Of which, 1,738 beds are ICCU, 11,250 beds are oxygenated O2 , 1,054 beds are ventilator beds.

For dealing with pandemic like COVID-19 availability of large well equipped health care facility is of out most important. Thus during meeting with the chief minister and BMC commissioner, it was decided to establish a 5,000 bed hospital to cater to large scale of patients during pandemics.

The proposed 5,000 beded hospital may be located in the Suburban areas of Mumbai. The reason being that it can serve population of Mumbai as well as patients coming from Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Further, the location of the proposed hospital has to be in close proximity to either Eastern Express Highway or Western Express Highway abating D.P. road not less than 90 ft. for having direct access.

Any land owner/ developer having undisputed vacant land excluding CRZ/ ND2/ forest land of any kind with clear and marketable title minimum 20 acres in size located in Suburban Region of Mumbai Corporation can approach BMC.

The land owner/developer shall have to scan the demand draft copy payable against Earnest Money Deposit(EMD) i.e. Rs 50 lakh and cost of EOI i.e. Rs 5,000 and shall in envelope to MCGM before opening of the bid.

A committee constituted by Municipal Commissioner shall decide the compensation as may be payable to the land owner/developer.

After finalizing the land parcel, subjected land under reservations shall be acquired under Section 126 (1)(a) & (b) of Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act and remaining land shall be acquired by mutual consent through negotiation.

Bhaiyyasaheb Behere, Dy.Collector (LA) of MCGM when contacted confirmed that the BMC is looking for this huge land parcel and will construct a hospital with 5,000 beds.

Last date of submission of EOI is August 10, and the sealed offers/ EOIs (only Technical bids) will be opened August 14 at 4.00 p.m. in the office of Municipal Architect Worli Engineering Hub.
