Elections for the cooperative housing societies can be held now, the state government came out with an order on Tuesday.

Housing societies can now hold elections, which were postponed because of the COVID 19 led pandemic.

On Tuesday, the state government’s Co-operation department came out with an order directing elections.

This order is for holding elections of cooperative housing societies.

The order states that, because of the pandemic due to the coronavirus and the following lockdown, the elections for the cooperative societies were postponed.

The elections as per reports were postponed till March 31, 2021.

However, the new orders have now cleared the path for elections.

Adv Vinod Sampat and expert on co-operative matters said, “The Cooperation department should immediately frame laws so that the elections can be held at the earliest.
