In a major relief to thousands of displaced residents, the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board under MHADA has started accepting online applications for the allotment of permanent tenements. The opportunity is open to original tenants or their legal heirs who have been living in transit camps for years—waiting for their chance at a permanent home.

The application window closes on May 20, 2025 at 11:59 PM. Eligible applicants can register and apply through masterlist.mhada.gov.in.

This step is specifically for those who were issued vacation notices and forced to vacate their homes due to dangerous conditions or redevelopment challenges. Many of these old cess buildings could not be rebuilt due to narrow plots, land reservations, or road-widening issues, leaving families in limbo for years.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be original tenants or legal heirs who received official vacation notices.
  • Currently reside in MHADA transit camps.
  • Have not been permanently allotted homes in redeveloped or reconstructed buildings by MHADA.

How to Apply

  1. Visit www.mhada.gov.in and go to the Citizen Corner > Application for Master List, or go directly to masterlist.mhada.gov.in.
  2. Register with a valid email ID and password. Save these credentials.
  3. Log in and carefully read the instructions before filling out the application form.

Documents Required (Scanned Copies):

  • Signature or thumb impression (JPEG)
  • Aadhaar Card (PDF)
  • Vacation notice, old rent receipt, electricity bill (PDF)
  • Transit camp allotment & possession receipt (PDF)

Important Notes:

  • Do not apply again if already declared eligible by the Master List Committee.
  • Applicants who previously applied online should not reapply.
  • Those who submitted offline applications and have pending cases must reapply online.

Physical Submission Required After Online Application

Once the online application is submitted, self-attested copies of the form and documents must be delivered within 30 days to:

Room No. 372, 2nd Floor, MHADA Headquarters,
Griha Nirman Bhavan, Kalanagar, Bandra East, Mumbai – 400051.

Applicants must bring original documents during the hearing. Final eligibility and allotment decisions will be made based on the MHADA Act, 1976, the 1981 Rules, and current government housing policies.
