The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a public notice under Section 206(2) of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, threatening the auction sale of 12 properties in the city to recover outstanding property tax arrears and penalties totaling ₹378.66 crore (precisely ₹3,786,626,757). The notice, from the Assessment and Collection Department, gives owners and assessees 21 days to clear the dues. If payments are not made within this period, the civic body will proceed with the auction of these immovable properties—primarily plots of land, along with one commercial building and one mixed-use property.

This notice is part of BMC’s broader enforcement efforts to address property tax defaults and improve municipal revenue. (Note: Recent BMC actions have included separate e-auctions for other high-value properties, such as six properties over ₹455 crore in dues, but this specific long notice targets these 12 distinct cases.)
