Dharavi Redevelopment: Non-Slum Dwellers to Get Minimum 500 Sq Ft Homes Under Major Policy Upgrade
Residents of buildings and chawls in Dharavi will now get a minimum of 500 sq ft rehabilitation units (370 sq ft carpet + 35% fungible) free of cost, up to a maximum of 753 sq ft, under a proposed amendment to development regulations. The change does not apply to slum hutment dwellers.

The ruling paves the way for the Union of India and state agencies to proceed with development on the 500-acre Arthur and Jenkins Salt Works parcels.
In Dharavi Redevelopment: Undecided Doesn’t Mean Ineligible

Tracing back to failed 2000s tenders, the current Adani-led effort includes a four-tier appeal system to address disputes, aiming for 125,000 homes in the world’s largest urban renewal initiative.
