Like every year, even this year MHADA has come up with a list of most dangerous buildings in the city of Mumbai.

These building are cessed buildings and are part of MHADA’s Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB). The list was declared last week and comprises of total 15 buildings.

A regular pre-monsoon survey of old and dilapidated cessed buildings in the Mumbai city island under the Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board of MHADA has been completed and this year 15 buildings have been found to be extremely dangerous. These 15 buildings include 7 buildings declared as high risk last year.

So here is the list of these buildings.
1) Building No. 4-4A, Navroji Hill Road no. 1, Jolly Chamber (from last year’s list)
2) Building No. 74 Nizam Street (from previous year’s list)
3) Building No. 42, Mosque Street (from previous year’s list)
4) Building No. 61-61A, Masjid Street
5) Building No. 212 J Panjarpol Lane
6) Building No. 173-175-179 VK Building, Princess Street, Kalbadevi
7) Building No. 2-4-6 Nanubhai Desai Road, Mumbai
8) Building No. 1-23 Nanubhai Desai Road, Mumbai
9) Building No. 351A, JSS Road Mumbai
10) Building No. 387-391 Badamwadi, V.P. Road (from previous year’s list)
11) Building No. 17 Narayan Niwas, Niktwadi
12) Building No. 31C & 33A, R Ranganekar Marg & 19 Purandare Marg, Girgaon Chowpati (from previous year’s list)
13) Building No. 104-106, Meghji Building, A, B & C Wing, Shivdas Chapsi Marg (from previous year’s list)
14) Building No. 40 Kamathipura 4th Street
15) Final plot no. 721 & 724 TPS – 3 Section, Building No. 40B & 428, Atmaram Building & Penkar Chal (from previous year’s list)

There are a total of 545 occupants/tenants of which 424 are residential and 121 are non-residential in these hazardous cessable buildings.

As per action taken by Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board, 155 residential tenants/residents have made alternative arrangements for their own accommodation. So far 21 residents have been shifted to transit camp.

The tenants/residents of the remaining buildings have been given eviction notices and the Board is in the process of removing the rest. Also, since accommodation of 222 residential tenants/residents has to be arranged in the transit camp, planning is being carried out by the board regarding their alternative arrangement in transit camps.

Tenants/residents of dangerous buildings are requested by the board to cooperate with the officials and employees of the board as necessary in vacating the buildings and to follow the instructions given by the board officials for the safety of themselves and their families so as to avoid life and financial loss due to accidents.
