MahaRERA on May 4, came out with a notice. The noice states that only urgent matters be listed with the authority.

With the government both at centre and state announcing extension of lockdown. MahaRERA has taken few steps to continue its work with certain restrictions.

A notice was issued by MahaRERA’s secretary Dr Vasant Prabhu on Monday. It listed important points.

The notice states, that “MahaRERA shall continue its operations and online delivery of all its services.”

This includes Project Registrations, Agent Registrations, Project Extensions / Corrections / Updates and Filing of complaints. This will done with all staff working digitally.

MahaRERA will also hear cases but it shall be decided based on the urgency of the mater.

Only urgent matters shall be listed and urgency of a matter shall be decided by the full bench of authority.

Anyone who wants his urgent to be heard will have to make an application for hearing of urgent matters.

The application has to be submitted to Secretary, MahaRERA at secy@maharera.mahaonline.gov.in.

The lockdown for now because of the Coronavirus pandemic has been extended till May 17. Post which the authority will review the situation and decide accordingly.

The last part of the notice reds, “The working of MahaRERA from 18th May 2020, will be decided only after further review and subject to further directions from Government of India as well as Government of Maharashtra.”

MahaRERA had earlier announced that registered projects where completion date, expires on or after March 15, 2020, the period of validity for registration of such projects shall be extended by three months.

Because of Coronavirus scare, a lockdown was announced, post which the Construction work in registered projects has been severely affected. Hence, the authority took this decision.

MahaRERA uploaded 85 orders of suo-motu action it took against realty projects in March. Since January, MahaRERA has uploaded around 167 suo-motu orders against realty projects.
