Lottery for 9,140 homes will be conducted by MHADA’s Konkan board. The advertisement regarding the same shall be placed by MHADA in the first week of February.

The homes that are expected to feature in the lottery are located in Thane, Kalyan, and in most likelihood for the first time in Navi Mumbai too.

Madhav Kusekar the Chief Officer of MHADA’s Konkan board confirmed the news in regards to the lottery of these thousands of homes.

In Kalyan the homes are in rural belt of the taluka, which includes areas like Shirdone, Khoni and others.

There are another set of thousands of homes in Shilphata area.

Another attraction will be around 20-40 homes in Ghansoli area of Navi Mumbai.

While a few of the homes in the lottery are from MHADA’s own projects. A majority of them are coming from the 20 per cent scheme where developers hand over flats to MHADA.

Even the Ghansoli houses that will be part of the lottery are from the 20 per cent scheme.

The Navi Mumbai scheme in the lottery sounds attractive because in this region another body CIDCO has been providing homes at affordable rates.

Owning a house is a dream of every person. However, buying a house from a private developer is not what everyone can afford. Hence, to fulfil this dream is what MHADA comes out with a lottery.

In this lottery majority of homes are expected to be for the economically weaker section and the lower income group.

The rates of the homes that will be sold by MHADA are expected to be less than the market rate.

The homes are affordable, and meant for those people who in normal circumstances can not afford a house in the city and nearby suburbs.
