The Maharashtra Government on Friday came out a notification asking its staff to report to work once a week.
Failure to do so would mean the staff faces a pay cut.
The notification states that it has come to notice, that many staff without prior permission have even left for their villages.
Thus leading to an over burden of work on the existing employees.
Every department and government office has been asked to prepare a roaster. The roaster has to be prepared in a way that every staff remains present at least once in a week at work.
Absence on the day of work would mean, that the employee’s absence shall be treated as leave without pay.
The notification has been signed by Manoj Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance. The order shall come into force from June 8, 2020.
The government also came out with another notification. This notification authorizes the employees to use official email and WhatsApp for government work.
During lockdown many employees couldn’t reach work and in future too, to avoid such situations the government has authorized it employees to use email and WhatsApp for work purposes.
Every employee will have to give their email ids and mobile numbers to the head of department. Using these mediums most of the work has to be carried out by the employees.
This would mean that work will go on even if the employees are at home or any location away from the offices.
With once a week attendance and work via email and WhatsApp, the government work will go on. This will mean relief for the common citizen too.
