The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) successfully addressed multiple long-pending grievances during its ninth Lokshahi Din at its Bandra (East) headquarters. Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, issued immediate directives, resolving five cases on the spot, bringing relief to applicants.
Among the resolved cases was that of Amrut Kore, whose request for regularization of his MHADA flat in Kandivali (West) had been pending since 2004. Jaiswal instructed the Estate Manager to complete the flat transfer by 3:00 PM the same day. The order was implemented immediately, and Kore received his regularization letter on the spot.
Another case involved Fitzgerald Ozario, who had been awaiting the transfer of a redeveloped MHADA flat in Mumbai Central, previously owned by his late mother. The process had stalled due to the absence of an inheritance certificate following the death of a sibling. Jaiswal directed officials to accept an indemnity bond in place of the certificate, enabling the immediate transfer of the property. The confirmation letter was issued the same day, resolving the issue.
Mohammad Khan, a winner of the 20% inclusive housing scheme under the Konkan Board’s lottery, had been charged an excessive processing fee for parking and clubhouse facilities, despite not opting for them. Jaiswal intervened by directly instructing the developer to reduce the additional charges, providing financial relief to Khan.
Anil Prabhulkar’s case, related to a flat in Bhaghyodaya Cooperative Housing Society, Kandivali (West), was also resolved. Although he had received the property via a gift deed from his brother in 2016, the regularization process had remained incomplete due to non-registration. Jaiswal directed officials to regularize the flat immediately, and Prabhulkar was handed the official confirmation letter the same day.
Dilip Suryavanshi, a resident of New D.N. Nagar, Shivneri Cooperative Housing Society, had been awaiting possession of his redeveloped flat. Jaiswal ordered the sub-registrar to issue an immediate possession order and appointed Sanjay Walunj as the authorized officer to oversee the process. Walunj was instructed to complete the necessary actions within seven days and submit a report.
Additional cases were also addressed during the hearing. Deepak Rane, representing a redeveloped building in MHADA Colony, New Chikhalwadi, sought MHADA’s maintenance responsibility for the structure. Jaiswal instructed officials to proceed with the handover formalities. Arun Bhoyar of Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli, had been incorrectly penalized with interest and late fees despite timely payment of maintenance charges. Jaiswal ordered the sub-registrar to conduct an audit without requiring additional hearings.
A total of seven applications were received during the ninth Lokshahi Din, bringing the cumulative total to 81 across all such hearings. Of these, 75 cases have been resolved, underscoring MHADA’s commitment to transparent and citizen-friendly governance.
