The Maharashtra government has issued a revised notification in January 2025, regarding the allocation of 2,000 square meters of land in Bandra Reclamation (Survey No. 791/A) to cricketer Ajinkya Rahane for the establishment of a Cricket and Sports Training Center. This amendment follows a cabinet decision made on October 14, 2024, modifying the previous government resolution dated October 7, 2024.

Key Revisions in the Government Notification

  1. Expanded Purpose of the Land Allocation
  • The original resolution mentioned that the land would be allotted for a “Cricket Training Center.”
  • The revised notification now expands its use to a “Cricket Training and Sports Center.”
  1. Changes in Construction Allowance
  • The earlier rule stated that 10% of the land area could be used for rental purposes and 15% for construction.
  • Under the new amendment, construction on the land will now follow the guidelines of Brihanmumbai Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) 2034, eliminating the fixed percentage limits.
  1. Approval and Digital Availability
  • The amendment was approved in a state cabinet meeting on October 14, 2024.
  • The revised resolution has been digitally signed and published on the Maharashtra government’s official website (www.maharashtra.gov.in).

This decision paves the way for the development of a state-of-the-art cricket and sports training facility in Mumbai, spearheaded by Ajinkya Rahane, benefiting aspiring athletes and sports enthusiasts.
